Kathy Terry

This mystical painting was created by Beyond the Brushes member, Kathy Terry. Kathy joined as soon as Beyond the Brushes opened. She comically added, "I was the one with my nose pressed against the glass saying 'open, open, open' before enrollment started."

In terms of previous experience, Kathy acknowledged it being minimal. She had completed a few courses with me and Heather Chinn (also known as Heather Michelle 😂) prior to Beyond the Brushes. Just maybe this is why she got excited? 🤔

As is a common challenge for many creatives, Kathy said the hardest part of this painting was translating from her brain to the screen. If this painting isn't a complete success, then I need a peek into your brain. This is amazing! The whimsical touch with the fog is exceptionally done.

Another common (and sad) theme among talented artists that Kathy alluded to is doubt. She commented...

"I have learned so much since starting Beyond the Brushes and would have never dreamed that I could learn to paint! Michelle is an amazing (yet tough) teacher and pushes each of us beyond what we thought we could accomplish!"

The point of Beyond the Brushes is not just to teach but also to encourage. A community should be a place where we can fellowship together about common goals and interests, but most importantly, it should be a place of encouragement. For every doubt you have in yourself, I hope there are 5 members advocating against it. Others can often see your potential more clearly than you can. 😊

Thank you, Kathy, for your kind words and encouragement. It has been and continues to be a pleasure having you in the community. Congratulations on such an extraordinary painting.
